Derek Koehler joined Barber and Associates, LLC in the spring of 2019. Derek was born and raised in Anchorage and graduated from West High in 2002.
He graduated from Widener University School of Law in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. There, Derek focused on litigation and trial work, including completing the school’s Intensive Trial Advocacy Program and interning with the Dauphin County District Attorney’s Office. After being admitted to the Alaska Bar in 2013, Derek worked as a public defender in Palmer, where he tried 40 cases to jury verdicts.
Before law school, Derek graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas with a bachelor’s degree in history. Derek is also is a founding member of the UNLV Men’s Ice Hockey program. When he’s not at work Derek enjoys hockey, golf, target shooting, and spending time with his wife and twin boys.
